Cancer

Latest Update (after a publishing hiatus)

My biggest enemy is becoming time management!

It’s the one thing that I still haven’t got under control and it is also one of the big factors that contribute to my feelings of being overwhelmed that have haunted me for decades.

I spoke to Trinidad this morning. One thing I realized after taking to him is that I really must keep my blog up to date. I’ve been writing constantly every day, on my Mac and on my iPad but I haven’t been getting it onto the blog and I haven’t been publishing it.

At the moment it’s been a bit like cooking meals and not feeding them to anyone.

My next entry has to be an update on where I am at a bit more than 2 months into this new reality. All the learning and new knowledge, the journey into understanding cancer and its multifaceted existence and power.

I’ve had moments of understanding that are amazing and if I was the only person who existed then that would be enough but on the other hand that is not the case and I just have to be able to put them out somewhere just in case they can help another person.

The hardest and most unique thing about knowledge and understanding is that they are both hard earned and cannot be given away with the wave of a magic wand or a sprinkle of fairy dust.

Each individual must have a huge desire for them based on their own needs. Unfortunately there is no magic wand waving, no learning machine that imparts knowledge while we sleep.

In my case I had no background in biology, chemistry, bio-chemistry or pathology when I found out that I had cancer. I have had to wade through hours of medical articles, books,YouTube podcasts and lectures to finally find the people who I trust and whose information aligns and dovetails with each others. These people include Thomas Seyfried, Dominic D’Agnostino, Valter Longo, Miriam Kalamian among others.

On top of this I have had to define and understand a whole new vocabulary, full of words from the subjects of bio-chemistry, metabolism, pathology, diseases.

I have had to listen to the same lectures over and over again to try to understand tumours, cancer cells, angiogenesis, apoptosis, metastasis, hypoxia, the ketogenic diet and mitochondria to name but a few of the words that I had never even heard before in my life.

And then there are the concepts of how this data and information all fits together and what it means and how it impacts my body and its fight against cancer.

I have spent hours every day and sometimes into the early hours working through this information and applying what I can of it to my day to day life and my efforts to put the brakes on the proliferation of my cancer cells and to attempt to stop them from running wild.
