My Philosophical Journey Through Life / My Viewpoints

Now Is All There Is

Now is all there is.

Each of our lives are a made up of a series of split second moments grounded in the present. Time is only relevant to change and a perception of looking back at memories and forward to possibilities.

Underlying this is our individual consciousness or Me as I call myself which has the ability to occupy a location in space and to perceive points in space that can then be perceived as being real and as such creating what I call “Gary Collier’s Universe”.

Sometimes I get so engrossed in doing an activity that time ceases to be a tangible or perceived factor. A hour or two may go by in what seems to be a couple of minutes.

So based on this, unless there is an immediate threat to my survival in the present moment there is no logical excuse to experience unpleasant or unsatisfactory emotions unless I am actively creating them. I suppose that you could say that this is how you create stress, pain and loss.

So based on this the trick enjoying my life is going to be determined by my willingness and ability to be mindful of and to experience my existence as it is happening.

Underlying my own existence is simply the fact that “I am aware that I am aware”. That then allows me to perceive the stimuli that I choose to at any given point.

I have the choice to put my attention on whatever or to let it hang up on something or optionally to be fluid and to be an observer.

My vehicle is the body that my consciousness occupies. Like anything else that occupies the physical universe it is subject to the laws of creation and no creation, although nature has developed a wonderfully unique self maintenance system that works perfectly so long as I respect what fuel I put into my body and what actions I take to maintain it in a condition that keeps it as functional as I need it to be.

Then there is my visual record of my existence that also contains perceptions, reactions and emotions. It is what it is and I know that sometimes that which I remember to be something I have experienced may not be what I did experience. When all is said and done it doesn’t really matter anyway unless I am using my recollections to make a point or to defend a viewpoint that I currently subscribe to.

So there it is. The current version of myself is Me, my consciousness, my body and my mind existing as a unit in the present time that I create by deciding to exist.

That is magical.
