A Momentary Lapse of Madness

After 20 years of pretty much abusing my body and letting it atrophy and get fat and unhealthy I have spent the past 12 months getting back on track with my diet and exercise. I can honestly report that I am now back on on the path to health and happiness and as well as eating really well and doing daily exercise both Georgie and I have taken on some extreme practises like hot and cold therapy.

Tonight is a relatively cold night, 8 degrees celsius to be precise. I just did 40 minutes on the cross trainer which got the blood moving and then spent about 30 mins in our infrared sauna, then we ran outside and jumped into our very bloody cold swimming pool. It was like crashing through a sheet of glass but without the blood …. by the time we got back in the sauna you couldn’t have convinced me that it was really quite hot in there but slowly, very slowly, the blood started moving again until we went out and jumped into the cold darkness again. Sort of sounds dramatic but it was really very fabulous and totally exhilarating and I can’t wait until it gets cold again so we can do it one more time.
