Walking to the Beat of a Different Drum
I have just become aware of how much I am walking to the beat of a different drum than the majority of my fellow travellers. From my viewpoint the world appears to have gone stark crazy bonkers, compliant to generalities and vague opinion and even worse, individuals and groups are more polarised than I can remember in my lifetime.
The so called New Normal sucks and I want no part of it.
I will state here that I acknowledge that there has been and is a nasty virus sweeping the globe. I also believe that we could have approached the challenge in a far more effective and positive manner if free speech had not been suppressed. Chances that it is a man made virus seem to be quite strong but that’s another story. Over the past 2 years the virus has mutated as virologists and epidemiologists knew it would. There are always different circumstances with the evolution of mutations but essentially what is currently happening is predictable. The official policy stance towards the virus from most western governments has been compromised by a mixture of incompetence, vested interests and creation of false confidence in the general populace. An example of this is that apparently the CDC in the USA have hired a PR firm to create a perception that they have everything under control which is so far from the truth that it isn’t funny.
Amazingly, the majority of people have willingly given up their hard earned right to speak freely, to have different opinions based on varied sources, to come to their own conclusions and to act on them as they see fit.
Economies have been ripped apart. It appears that the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. A whole generation of young people have been shackled with social restraints that may negatively shape social activities for the next 20 years. People’s trust in each other has been shattered and in some cases the reaction to the pandemic has brought out the worst in many people.
My goals on a personal basis are to live a happy, healthy stress free life and to enjoy the company of my family and close friends. To pursue my own creative endeavours and to get inspired wherever and whenever I find inspiration. On the level of my greater circle of friends and associates and all of mankind I would like to think that I can inspire at least some people by my actions and the products of my endeavours.

I am not willing to trade my freedom for false security.
But having said that I still believe that we all have to reach our own conclusions based on our willingness and ability to look hard and honestly at what we believe to be the correct data.
