The Bubble, the Matrix, and Me: Spiritual Gains in Bali
The day always comes when the holiday is finally over—and for me, that day is now.
I’ve known this moment was approaching. It always does. And one day, the final version of this moment will arrive—the closing chapter of life itself. But interestingly, that no longer fills me with the apprehension it once did. That quiet shift in perspective is one of the unexpected gifts from this three-month journey through Bali.
I’ve met people here who, often without knowing it, helped nudge me gently over some barriers I’d unknowingly erected—ideas I’d clung to, fears I’d buried, attachments I couldn’t see clearly. Conversations, synchronicities, podcasts, and even random smiles have opened the door to concepts that make far more sense to me now, especially in the context of the reality I’ve been shaping all my life.
Yes, it’s been a great three months. And no, I’m not done growing. There are still obstacles to overcome—old habits, outdated programs running silently in the background of my mind, causing glitches in my emotional software from time to time. But I’ve made real progress.
What’s shifted is my relationship to emotion. Painful emotions—what some might call “low-frequency states” like fear, apathy, anger, shame—no longer feel like enemies to be avoided. They seem more like messages, even guides, pointing to the places that need healing. There’s a growing part of me that recognizes these emotional waves as part of the architecture of this curious Matrix we find ourselves in.
I don’t claim to be any kind of master builder. My philosophical foundation is still full of gaps and cracks. But I’ve started reinforcing it with stronger materials—patience, perspective, a willingness to let go. And above all, a growing trust in something that I once would have thought not possible. Something beyond the bounds of my current reality.
I’ve still got mountains of debris to clear, yes—but I also have buckets of inspiration. And behind all of that, I feel something vast and eternal stirring: the infinite potential of a spirit that exists beyond the scripts and illusions of this world.
What I’m learning is that one of the fundamental keys to inner peace is learning how to let go. To have, or not have. To own, or not own. To live lightly with what passes through my hands and heart.
Earlier today, I had this strange moment. I was thinking of all the beautiful things I’ve seen and felt in these past weeks. It was like I was looking at a delicate, shimmering bubble—perfect, magical, fleeting. And I knew if I tried to grab it, it would burst. That moment gave me clarity.
Maybe I don’t need the bubble at all. Maybe its only purpose was to remind me that joy exists. That there’s beauty in transience. Maybe the bubble is a trap. Or maybe it’s just a metaphor.
Actually, right now, that’s exactly what it is—a metaphor. One I needed.
So as I wrap up this chapter in Bali and prepare to return home, I want to acknowledge not just the physical transformations—better blood sugar, renewed strength, clean protocols—but the spiritual ones too. The deeper understanding. The open heart. The whisper of something truer beneath all the noise.
I’m not claiming enlightenment. Just progress.
And that, for now, feels like enough.
